SCHLEUNIGER AG - ANIMATED CHRISTMAS CARD 2015.

YO FELLAS!

at least nobody wants to hear about christmas until next december, i have to clean my desk and show you how i wasted the last weeks of 2015.

for SCHLEUNIGER company i did an animated christmas card which should transport the spirit of christmas without showing any santa or decorated trees, though there are international customers with different religions. I simply decided to create a winter scene basing on the companie's current strategy logo and wrap it in the frame of a christmas letter. but mostly i tried to things a little bit serious.

you can watch the movie here.

24 HOURS COMIC - UNFINISHED.

DEAR READER!

in june i took took part in a 24 hour comic competition. this simply means that you have to create a comic including the story and drawing within 24 hours. i failed. i created a dystopic scifi story, made a storyboard (which took the most time), created the frames on the final pages and started with the pictures. i only got six pages finished until time was up. i slept three hours in that time cuz i knew i wouldn't get any sleep at homewith my daughter. but i decided to finish that comic. there was some trouble which kept me from finishing it earlier but i hope to get i done before the year's up. stay tuned!

cheers, robert

POSTER DESIGN - SPOT ON.

HEY FOLKS!

some months ago i visited a local concert and was shocked by the (awful) flyer design. of course, diy is better than not doing any flyer but i prefer a well made flyer instead of one that's just there because some people were too lazy to ask some capable guy. so did the dudes from the location "die börse". they make several events over the year and were (in my eyes) not able to promote a local event in a proper way.
i asked if i could support them and got green lights. from the beginning i wanted to include the original concept of the event's slogan "spot on" but i missed some live in the "just typo"-concept. so i drew a nice little creature and logotype, both fully digital and played with the layout and voilà: here's a suitable poster for a local punk show.

ARTWORK - KERNS "FÜR DICH KEIN HANSA MEHR".

YO!

boys and girls, i had some months of silence around my creative output. despite you’re not an insta-follower for my stuff, you probably thought i quit. well, i had some heavy months where i made manymanymany decisions… but maybe i will talk about that shit later.

today i give you some new artwork stuff i did for a german punk band from my hometown. the band’s called KERNS and they just finished their new ep called „FÜR DICH KEIN HANSA MEHR“. hansa is german beer brand so you can translate the title with „NO MORE HANSA FOR YOU“. but don't be afraid, only the title's in german. the picture was done very fast with biro, scanned and typo added. check out these friendly dudes and have a hansa!

cheers, robert

DIGITAL DRAWING LESSON.

Yo Dudes!

I got a new tool. My old Intous 3 Tablet retired because I made a present to myself. In the hope of being a little more productive in my illustrative cases I bought a Cintiq. And finally I can do what I wanted to do so much earlier: Drawing fully digital pictures. My Intous fucked up pretty good in the performance, it had much delays in bringing the lines on the screen and it made horrible shaky lines. I hated creating digital images and asked myself if ther's something wrong with my drawing style. Now I know it wasn't. It's been a technical reason. Trying the Cintiq showed that everything is fine with me. I tried some line art as well as a character study shown below to get warm with my new tool. The drawing feels very natural. Doing line art feels nearly analog to what I do on paper. And now I'm gonna push my horizon by starting to paint digital. I really love digitally painted pictures. For my first try it's looking not that bad. Below the picture there's the analog template and a painting I tried with the Intous earlier. I prefer the upper picture. The only thing that's left to do now is getting better and faster. Swoosh!

Cheers, Robert
